Late Night Hi-Fives {& A Baby Update}

Maybe it isn't THAT late, but usually I have these Friday posts ready to go at 6 AM! Things are a little different around here.  Noooooo, Baby Girl isn't here yet...but family has started to gather!!! Not only are my parents and brother in town, but my cousin Jen came up last night to surprise us. Tomorrow, the rest of the crew will be joining us (Aunt, Uncle, cousin Kristen, Mickhael). This certainly is an event. Everyone will be settling into a pretty sweet vacation rental house about 5 minutes from here...we were hooked up by Mal's Dad! SO AWESOME...they will be living in luxury while they wait for the Little Lady to arrive! So I'm a little thrown off with all of the excitement, and chaos happening around here.  I figured "better late than never" on my weekly recap!
1. Don't you think this very special occasion calls for a very special ad deal?!?  Me too! Click HERE!
2.  Baby Girl has such a sweet (not so) little wardrobe. It's never been so fun to do laundry!
3. My work shower last week was great! We were spoiled with so many wonderful goodies, thanks to my wonderful IMS family!
4. After pulling an all-nighter and booking it down here...Brother was SHOT!  Do you blame him?
5. My cousin and I went for pedicures this afternoon.  Mine was MUCH needed...NOW I can give birth with my pretty light pink toes.

Back to the waiting game.  I'm feeling some very dull cramping. The only contractions that I have been able to time are extremely sporadic and I've never had more than three in a row.  My body is definitely gearing up for labor, the question is whether or not it will happen before Tuesday's induction.  If I'm a little quiet around here, it doesn't mean I'm in labor.  You will KNOW when it's baby time as long as you are following on Instagram and Twitter! Can't wait! I hope you all have a great weekend!

#BabySkoblickiWatch {A False Alarm}

Yesterday was my last day at work for the next 2 months. I'm so grateful to be home resting because my cold has evolved into this horrible hacking cough. Right now it feels like the "calm before the storm". Can we talk about how happy I am that my parents and brother are almost here!?! They left NY last night around 7 PM, and drove through the night. Right now they are probably crossing the state line into Florida. I'm so happy that they will be here for Baby Girl's arrival - I could cry (again)!!!

So let me update you real quick on yesterday's wacky events!  Like I said, it was my last day at work and of course I just had to make a semi-dramatic exit. It was a great and productive half day with the students! I actually felt pretty good too, the pelvic pressure didn't kick in until after the kids went home! We were all joking all day long about me going into labor in order to avoid going to a Social Studies meeting after the kids left for the day.  Well I didn't go into labor, but I had been trying to contact my Doc to ask him if something was normal (sparing the icky details). Let's put it this way...it's one of those things that are considered normal- but I was going on day #3 and just wanted to call for some reassurance.  About 45 minutes before the end of the day I finally got through to him, and he told me to go straight to "Labor and Delivery" JUST to be sure things were okay.  I KNEW it was probably fine but obviously had to go through the process.

So I called Stephen to tell him that Sherina was going to drive me to his job, and that we then had to go to the hospital. He didn't seem concerned at all...in fact he casually asked me if I remembered to take my Grandmother's palm tree out of my car and put it in my office.  It was all very anticlimactic. Sherina and I have replayed every possible dramatic scenario in our heads over the past few months, and this was not one of those scenarios at all.

When I called my mom (who was only a few hours from getting on the road), all it did was create unnecessary panic. My brother was ready to hop in the car at that moment and "haul ass" down here! My dad was scrambling to get out of work slightly earlier (to no avail)...what a mess.  This whole time I was not scared at all, I just felt that Baby Girl wasn't ready.

When we arrived at the hospital they brought me up to Labor and Delivery immediately. At the class we went to a few weeks ago, the nurse told us that they are all afraid of pregnant women in the ER ever since someone gave birth a few years ago in the waiting room.  I felt bad for the woman behind me who had to wait for me...she was in actual labor - and I was sitting there cracking jokes to the transporter as I sat there in a wheelchair waiting for Hubs to park the car and get inside.

They checked me and I had not dilated any more than the 2 (almost 3) centimeters since Monday.  They hooked me up the the fetal monitor and after an hour on my back, the nurse came in and asked me to turn on my right side.  She didn't really say why.  Then about 45 minutes later she said that the midwife was there, and noticed a couple of strange dips in the babies movement and heart rate.  Just to be sure that everything was okay they ordered an ultrasound.  In the meantime while we waited for my turn (there were 3 people ahead of me), she had me flip to my left side and monitored me for another hour or so.  When they came in to bring me downstairs for the ultrasound she said that everything looked GREAT, and that Baby was very happy.  Since the ultrasound was already ordered, we were going to do it anyway.

Another hour and a Biophysical Scan later...all is BEAUTIFUL (the Doc's words). We left the hospital, I called my family who had just finally gotten on the road to tell them they could relax.  Everything was fine, Baby Girl was safe, and would be waiting for Grams, Gramps, and Uncle Peter to get down here after all...yippeeeee!  What a crazy day, but obviously I'm glad we took the proper precautions and got checked out anyway.

So now I am home resting, and waiting for the crew to arrive.  Then we all will wait....and wait some more!  It's going to be amazing! I hope you are all having a fabulous Thursday!

38 Week Bumpdate

Okay Friends....here goes nothing!!!
The fact that I have finally gotten to the point where I am writing THIS post is bittersweet.  I can honestly say this will be my LAST Bumpdate! What?!?  Where should I even begin...

At Monday's appointment my Doctor made it clear that I have progressed A LOT in just one week. I'm already almost 3 centimeters dilated, and Baby Girl is very low! Stephen, my Doctor and I made the decision to schedule an induction for next Tuesday, September 3rd (just three days before my actual due date). There was a lot of reasoning behind it, and I don't feel I need to list the pros and cons to justify this very personal decision that we all made.  The truth of the matter is that there is a very real possibility I won't even make it until Tuesday...and if I do, YES I am prepared to be induced.

We are absolutely elated that we could say with certainty this part of our journey is coming to an end. Within a week we will be meeting our sweet little peanut! I can't wait to see her little face, hold her, and tickle her tiny toes! My parents and brother are road tripping it down here, and will arrive tomorrow.  Today is my last day at work. The timing couldn't be any more perfect, the discomfort I've been experiencing at work the past two days has been pretty extreme.  Not only am I physically not into it...mentally I'm just shutting down. It's time to tie up some loose ends and attempt to leave things to my fellow Guidance Counselor in some sort of order. I know my almost 500 students are in the best hands, and if anyone can handle the task of flying solo at IMS it's Mrs. Anderson!

This is the "sharp stabby pain" portion of my pregnancy, and I'm not loving that part at all. The fact that I've been sick this week has not been helping either.  Finally, I feel like I'm on the mend (stupid sore throat and stuffy nose)! I've gained 32 pounds total (although it's not completely over just yet). Check out this 5 week vs. 38 (almost 39) week comparison!
Overall I can say that I've enjoyed being pregnant.  Looking back, of course there were ups and downs...but the joy and excitement that Hubs and I have experienced over the past 9 months outweighs any amount of aches, pains, or nausea I've endured!

Thanks to all of you for following along with my Bumpdates...it's been a BLAST.  You have all been so supportive, I've loved writing these posts and reading all of your comments! I can't wait to look back with Baby Girl one day and have her see all this fun stuff I've gone through and all of the anticipation leading up to her arrival.  So I'll end with this...

Dear Baby Girl,
We are almost officially a family of THREE! I hope you know just much Daddy and I love you. So far nothing has even come close to how excited we feel at this moment. We haven't even met you yet but we are certain that we are the luckiest parents in the world to have you as our daughter!  We love you - our little ladybug! XO
Love,
Mommy & Daddy

Calling All Guest Bloggers!

As you all know...the big day is quickly approaching! One question that has been in the back of my mind (for a while now) is "how am I going to find the balance between being a new Mom and maintaining this blog"?  First of all, this blog is for ME and no one else.  I love blogging and I especially love the blog community! I've always been a firm believer that if this blog ever stresses me out or becomes a chore - then it's time to take a little break!

No, I don't plan to walk away from all of my lovely NTSST readers.  My hope is to be able to keep you all in the loop while maintaining the blog as much as possible. You bet there will be some Baby Girl updates coming. I have a few recipes that I have been saving for you all, and I also hope to be able to keep up with the link-ups. That's the plan...but let's be honest, you could only plan so much!  It will be interesting to see how the month of September plays out over here!

The intention is not to unplug completely, but I expect for there to be an adjustment period where I will have to find a new routine, and a new balance that will work for me. During that adjustment period I would just love to have some guest posts ready to go!  That's where you all come in!!!  If interested in guest posting, please e-mail me at sascoma@gmail.com so we could set something up!

Sassy Baby Essentials Giveaway!

Mandy from Sassy Baby Essentials is just as sweet and darling as the headbands that she sells in her Etsy shop!!! I am so grateful to have met this new Mamma (her little Ellie Reese is so precious)! Mandy is giving away a free month worth of the "Headband of the Month" club...which by the way is not always only limited to ONE headband per month! Make sure you check her out, and show my new friend some love!
I'm Mandy - A happy wife to my handsome southern gentleman & new mama to my sweet little doll, Ellie Reese. I started my little biz in January of 2013 after a few weeks of making headbands for my little. After the sweet comments, positive feedback and a little encouragement from my huz; I figured I'd give it a shot. Now that I am a SAHM, making things for my shop/and adorable little clients is my little sanctuary each day during naptime while providing a creative outlet and some me-time. Although the name of my shop seems to cater exclusively to babies, I wanted to make things for myself & decided to offer it to other mamas as well. I have made custom pieces for weddings/flower girls and offer mommy&me knotted wraps for labor, after baby arrives for first photos! Everything that I make is handmade {with lots of love!} and made to order; I occasionally offer other boutique items as well. I also take custom orders for clients who send me photos of outfits for family photo shoots, newborn shoots, birthday parties etc. I appreciate each and every order more than words can express!! I'm always adding extras to orders as well; a little token of my appreciation! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, Stephanie, for sharing my little shop with your readers!! I can't wait to send out the first Headband of the Month giveaway to the winner!!!

37 Week Bumpdate

How many of these bumpdates do you think I have left?! Kaitlyn from Wifessional's did a post yesterday all about first time mothers and when they gave birth...I'm loving her findings!  I know Baby Girl will get here when she is ready, but I can't help feeling like I hope that is sooner than later! (***Side note...I write these bumpdates a week after the fact so I am actually almost 38 weeks.)
She is FULL TERM...it can be any day now! It can be any minute actually, OMG. At my Doctor's appointment on Monday he said I'm 1/2 centimeter dilated. I know that I could walk around like that for another 3 (I pray not 4) weeks, so I tried not to get TOO excited about that.  I'm feeling A LOT of pressure. She feels super low. I haven't had any strong contractions yet, mostly just some cramping. I was surprised (again) to find out that I haven't gained any weight - I'm still at 30 pounds total.  I asked if this is normal and they said "it can be".  Not sure what that means but I'm not complaining!

Speaking of complaining...
I'm tired, can't sleep, waking up every hour to pee...the usual. I'm over it. Hubs and I are SO over the moon psyched about meeting this sweet little lady that none of that really matters anyway! We are ready whenever she is!

Last Saturday we went to a "Baby Basics" class at the hospital. It was exactly that...basic....but I'm glad we went. We at least had the opportunity to master the swaddle.  Stephen would NOT let me take a picture of him with our creepy fake swaddled baby. He is such a party pooper.  You better believe I was not leaving without one at least of myself.
Did you get to read my post from the other day about my "Social Media Birth Plan"? Of course I have one...it's a "thing" I swear.  At least now it is! Now is the time to make sure you are following me via ALL social media! Baby Skoblicki Watch is ON!
Happy "Bump" Day!

Cucumber Avocado Subs

These messy and delicious subs have been a favorite of mine since my first Jimmy John's experience about a month ago! The veggie sub there makes me wish I had a Jimmy John's nearby! Since I don't (Booooo), I had to try to make it myself at home. There is just something incredible about the combination of cucumber and avocado! What's cooking this week?

So far this weekend is exactly what I had imagined!  No work...just relaxation...it's been fabulous!
This is what's on the menu this week:
Tonight:  Bolognese Sauce (*Part of Operation Cook & Freeze)
Monday:  Double Batch of Crock-Pot Turkey Chili (*Part of Operation Cook & Freeze)
Tuesday:  Pizza Margherita (wheat crust)
Wednesday:  Creamy Artichoke Soup and Steak for Hubs
Thursday:  Burritos with leftover chili from Monday

I'm REALLY running low on space in the freezer! I think after this week I'll have to tone it down a notch as far as "Operation Cook & Freeze" goes.  I've stockpiled quite a few meals, I think we are all set!  We have baked ziti, turkey lasagna, a sausage kale bean thing (lol), chicken fajitas, lots of sauce, and as long as I don't go into labor before tomorrow... we will have chili! Mission accomplished! It feels good!

Speaking of going into labor, did you get a chance to read about my social media birth plan?  Yes, it's a real thing! Baby Skoblicki Watch is ON!
{via}
I keep reminding myself to live in the moment.  As you can imagine, this is becoming increasingly difficult.  The days pass by and I anticipate seeing that little face more and MORE! At least for today I am going to try and slow down, and appreciate the joy and excitement of the unknown.  I said I would TRY!

I hope you are all enjoying today!!!
Come back tomorrow and link-up with Chelsea and I for Kitchenspiration

#BabySkoblickiWatch

I promised that I wouldn't post about my "social media birth plan" until my hospital bag was at least packed.  CHECK!
Baby Girl is FULL TERM as of yesterday! I've been over analyzing every single ache, pain, and cramp. Any symptom, you name it - I've probably googled it! I fell asleep while doing a little research on "cervical ripening" last night.  Stephen was slightly horrified to find that when he took the laptop from me! I've officially been feeling like a ticking time bomb.  Honestly I'm thinking because I am SO anxious, I will be at least a week late! Anyone who knows me KNOWS I'm the most impatient person EVER...no really!
Regardless, I'd like to kick off Baby Skoblicki Watch!
Of course I have a social media birth plan in effect! You didn't think I would leave you all hanging? I would never just disappear for a week, come back and be all like "Oh hey, by the way...I had the baby". SO not my style.
Realistically, I know I will be just a tad preoccupied.  The last thing I want to be thinking about is updating my blog, and all of my other social media! Baby Girl is getting my undivided attention! My girl Mallory is on it for me. Surely she will be receiving updates, and she will help me keep you all in the loop! Hubby has also been given very specific instructions to make sure my Twitter and Instagram are updated every so often! Now I can't promise a full report as to every centimeter I am dilating (and I'm assuming you would rather not know all of that anyway)...but my goal is to keep you all in updated as much as possible! Keep an eye out for the "It's Baby Time" button!

Moral of the story....NOW is the time to make sure you are following!

Another Friday Down...

...How many more to go?! I hate to make it seem like I am hoping for these weeks to rush by at this point....but I just can't help it! I'm not a patient person to begin with.  The anticipation is just killing me! My due date is THREE Fridays from now! Pretty soon there will be a cute little face to include in these Friday posts! Yippeeee!
Here are some of the high points from another hectic week!
1. This sat on my desk for a few days before I broke down and cracked it open last night. Surely, it will be gone before the end of the day today!
2.  The other night I made this crispy broccoli.  This was one of those recipes where I thought to myself..."why don't I make this more"?!
3.  The bags are packed, after MUCH procrastination!
4.  Thanks to my co-worker T-Mac (red dress), and Mal & DLW (elephant and Dad onesies) for spoiling the princess even more!
5.  One of MANY "realization moments" that were had this week!

The Boys Behind The Blog {Link up #3)

Welcome to the 3rd round!
I remember saying, "OMG, the 3rd round of The Boys Behind The Blog will be the last round before Baby Girl gets here".  Of course Mallory and I will continue this link-up afterwards, but I just can't believe that by the next round the little peanut will be here!  How fun and exciting is that?!?!

Anyway, can't wait to read what your boys have to say this month!!!
First, let's hear from Stephen! I still love him even though I am not too psyched about his response to the first question!!!
1. What would you do with $1,000,000?
Tax-free, right? Not that it’s even considered a significant amount of money anymore, but I’d do the following:
-Invest; a million compounds well.
...Since I’m certain that’s not the object of the question, with the first interest payments, I would:
-Buy Stephanie a new car; something sensible for our new and growing family. Something in the small CUV class (she likes the RAV4; I could live with that)
-Pay off remaining college loans.

2. What is your dream job?
I love what I do (I’m a Student Advisor at a private local college). I would love ideally to be able to go larger-scale and leverage my skills for a state or private university and bring success for a whole new population of local and international students.

3. Who is your celebrity crush?

Olivia Wilde.

4. What is your favorite sports team?
I feel obliged to continue to be a NY sports fan, despite being a Florida resident for 4 years now. While never really into any one sport or another from a fan standpoint, I would need to say that recent baseball controversy is making me more a football fan. So, let’s go Big Blue. (For anyone who is not aware, NY Giants)
Now my wife thinks we need these...
5. What was your AOL/AIM screen name back in the day?
Oh, for flashback stories. My very first AIM handle was LeftyL721. Why?
Well, let’s start with the fact that it was thought up and created by my first girlfriend. As such, it would follow that:
-I’m left-handed; and her cutesy name for me (as it would logically follow) was lefty-loser. Endearing, right?
-The numbers are her birthdate.
It’s okay; we’re Facebook friends now, so no hard feelings. Needless to say, this handle was short-lived.

Now grab a button, and link up with us!

36 Week Bumpdate

"Guess what day it is?!?!  Guess. What. Day. It. IS!"  It's Bump Day!
I just can't even believe it! Excited doesn't even BEGIN to describe how the hubs and I are feeling at this point! We are just SO close!
When I opened up my "What To Expect" app on Saturday morning, I was amazed to find this:
A WATERMELON?!?! That's rough, no wonder I am having difficulty moving around.  When we went to the Farmer's Market this weekend, I was slightly horrified looking around at all of the watermelons. Ouch! I'm at 30 pounds gained so far, which is the same as last week (not sure I mentioned that).  This weekend I noticed that my face looks like it is getting a little rounder.  I was expecting a few more chins by this point, so a round face is fine by me. Of course moving around isn't easy, every time I get up from the couch or my bed I feel like an old lady! My back, my feet, my hips...everything aches. Fun stuff.  Luckily the excitement factor is more than enough to get me through the growing aches and pains from day to day.

My apetite has still been off, I'm not THAT hungry at night.  During the day I'm starving but there is just little to no time to stop to eat. I have been eating but it's been small things I can eat on the run. I can't tell you how many granola bars I've gone through (it might be easier to measure by boxes), they are just quick and easy. I've been trying to be sure to grab something fast any chance I can, and drink LOTS of water!

I finally crashed two nights ago. All of the chaos caught up to me and I fell asleep around 7 and slept straight through (no potty wake ups) until 5! I need more nights like that. I knew it was going to be next to impossible to "relax" once this school year got underway.  Honestly it is much worse than I even anticipated but I am hanging in there. Part of me so badly wants to stop working soon.  I can't throw in the towel just yet, I want to save as much time as possible to be with Baby Girl!

Speaking of "Baby Girl"... she does have a name (Ahhh, can't wait to share it with you all)! Remember the button project I was telling you all about?!  Here is one letter from her name (I did her entire name for the nursery)...
I'm in love with how it came out!  We just bought the letters at Michael's and I hot glued the buttons on there.  Such a fun project too!

On Monday I went to the Doctor...her head is down and she is ready to go! We have officially started with the once-a-week appointments, maybe I will know a little more next week.  Saturday we are taking a "baby basics" class at the hospital.  Should be fun!

Happy "Bump" Day!
